Having baby at age 40?

Anyone had a baby at age 39 or 40? Was it difficult and were there more health or genetic risks for the baby?

No genetics issues for me, that was my biggest fear. Each pregnancy is different. I had my daughter at 28 and it was a much easier pregnancy. I am currently pregnant and it is a struggle. Approaching third trimester but I don’t think I will make it to my due date.

I had babies at 39 and 41.  The pregnancies were not difficult. I did have several miscarriages at age 38, but had no issue getting pregnant. Both babies were very healthy and no genetic abnormalities. However, I did deliver early (32 weeks) with my last baby.  
But to answer your question, yes, risks of complications and genetic abnormalities is higher at 40 and it is usually more difficult to get pregnant at that age as well.  I was very fortunate.

At age 40 or over your chances of a baby with any genetics issues is a lot higher and the pregnancy could be high risk for some women

I'm ttc #1 a week before my 40th... it's been 2 years so far
