Breastfeeding and the social norm

I am a FTM and have breastfed my baby since the minute she was born (she is almost 13mo) and everyone around me tells me I need to wean her, but everything I read says that if she isnt weaning herself she still needs me emotionally or nutritionally and that babies tend to wean themselves between 2 and 4yrs. (There are always exceptions.)

What I am getting at is that I would be more than happy to just let her wean herself, but society is telling me its weird (or bad) to do that. Also, of course I'm feeding her regular food now too, and have been since 6mo.

Emotionally I dont think im ready to wean her either. I know she will very likely be my only baby.

TLDR: should I force my baby to wean since she is over a year old? Or should I let her wean herself when shes ready?
