Vaginal spasms?!

Question

So my doctor told me today that the reason I'm having sharp pains during penetration is muscle spasms.

If this is true, what do they actually feel like? 
Will I be able to actually feel the spasm? Cause I don't think I have before..

It's called vaginismus it's an involuntary action of your vaginal canal and pelvic floor mucles tensing and tightening which causes pain during penetration. You don't feel it unless you try to penetrate yourself. It's a condition that's very common but most girls think it's caused because they are "too tight" but that's not the case. It's treatable and managable through pelvic floor training which you will need to see a women's health physiotherapist for. It is possible to have sex without pain but you will need to work hard and keep up with your training in order to control your muscles properly.
