Water broke i think?

Used the rest to pee..of course wiped from front to back.. sat on the sofa had a contraction felt wetness... i have a pad on but no fluid. I didnt smell anything either. What should i do. Should i wait go straight to er

My water broke with my daughter when I was 49 weeks 3 days. I was having painful contractions but the fluid coming out was more of a trickle here and there and there was never a big gush of fluid. I called l&d twice about it and they told me they thought it was discharge and not to come in. Well I am a registered nurse and I was working with pediatrics at the time and I went to work. It was terrible. My contractions hurt so bad and the "discharge" kept coming out. At the end of my shift I couldn't take it anymore and I called my doctor on his cellphone. He told me to go to the hospital where they confirmed that my water was indeed broken and I was leaking amniotic fluid. My water had partially broken and there was still a lot of water in the sac and was blocking my daughter's head from dilating my cervix with my contractions which were 1-2 minutes apart by then. I ended up with a uterine infection because my water was broken for so long before My daughter was born. It ended up being 43 hours  of labor. If you think that your water may have potentially broken, I would go in! They will do a swab of your vagina with a sterile q-tip looking thing and out it in a solution. It will tell you within two minutes if your water has broken or if it is just discharge.

When water breaks it's either a gush or a small trickle. It sounds like discharge? I get this sensation after using the toilet also. Call L&D just to be sure!
