What do you use to protect the bed if you have heavy periods?
So far, I’ve tried:
1. Wearing a tampon then putting washable, reusable bedpads on the fitted sheet.
Pro: some are big and heavy enough that they stay put
Con: they make me sweat
2. Disposable bed pads (Medline/Chux type, like the nursing homes use. They look like puppy training pads, lol
Pro: disposable and easy to use and sometimes doctors can prescribe them, so that insurance covers
Con: they don’t stay put and slide all over the bed while I’m asleep
3. Wearing two or three pads in all different locations (bottom, front and back) inside my underwear. They bunch up and gravity isn’t my friend
Cons: They are a mess and don’t really work
4. Giving up and just using red sheets and rewashing them every day
Pros: less work
Cons: feels gross
5. Using a mattress pad under the sheets or in conjunction with all of the above
Pros: protects the mattress itself
Cons: still end up washing everything plus the pad
