Was your MC as painful as labor ?

Question

As someone who has gone through some loses all very different ( chemical pregnancy,missed miscarriage, natural miscarriage, and a molar pregnancy) but has never gone through labor I was curious to hear from those who have gone through labor and also a loss to see how physically painful a MC was in comparison to labor. Don’t want to offend anyone or make anyone feel bad so please be kind.

A miscarriage was more mentally breaking then giving birth. Giving birth I knew I’d have a beautiful baby girl, my miscarriage I just cried snd my heart kept breaking

I had a very early miscarriage in 2011 and it just felt like a heavy period. 
Labor was excruciating both times for me.

My miscarriages had zero physical pain associated with them at all. Had 1 early miscarriage and 1 missed.miscarriage with a d&c. Zero pain for the miscarriage or the after result. Even with my d&c I felt physically fine as soon as I woke up for anesthesia. We went on a very long walk that night and a 7 mile hike the next day to help clear our heads. To be honest labor didn't really hurt either. From the first labor sign through pp recovery never needed more than a Tylenol for discomfort and pain never went about like a 2 on a 1-10 pain scale (2 unmedicated births). The 2nd miscarriage emotionally was beyond words pain wise though. The 1st one was hard but was super early and was warned it was a chance. The 2nd was almost 10 weeks and we had had ultrasounds and heard the heartbeat and everything looked perfect. Being told at the ultrasound I had miscarried was devastating. Physically Zero symptoms or any pain or even slight discomfort.

My missed miscarriage with twins in 2018 was more painful than labor for me. I didn't even know I was in labor until I went to the hospital for reduced fetal movement and was told I was 7.5cm dilated, but I almost bled to death and needed an emergency dnc and blood transfusion with my loss. If my roommate hadn't carried me to the hospital, I would have bled out before my boyfriend got home from work.

For me personally, I had an extremely traumatic birth experience with my daughter and was in labor for 3 days. i would still rate my miscarriage being more painful both physically and mentally. I can’t really describe it, but giving birth you almost “black out” in a sense and you can’t even focus on the pain. The miscarriage was a long, tedious pain that lasted for weeks that you can dwell on.

I guess mine would be considered a chemical, 4weeks and 3 days. It has actually been less painful and lighter quicker than my normal period has been. It was still really heavy the first two days, but not horrible. I was expecting more cramping and blood honestly. I am on day 3 and it has lightened up pretty significantly.

Trigger warning: For me I was in active labor for 35 hours and I still feel like my 12 week at home mc was worse but it was a triplet mc so that might be why. I went through 3 days of trying to pass everything and ended up in the ER from the pain and blood loss. With labor it was more energy draining then painful. I could handle the pain but not how wore out it made me.

For me it’s really hard to compare. My 2nd trimester loss was definitely more painful than my 1st trimester miscarriages. But the process didn’t last as long as my full term labors. That said, I think my pain threshold was much lower with the miscarriages. Someone explained it to me that your mind is so focused on the emotional pain there is no mental energy left to handle the physical pain.

I had contractions with my miscarriage. I did it at home naturally at 13 1/2 weeks pregnant. It was very painful and lasted 6 hours. I had a c section for this pregnancy so its hard to compare. I'm sure pushing out a full term baby would hurt more. Like someone said, it's mentally painful bc there is no baby.
