Ever heard of this

So my bf just told me when he went to the doctors at 15 they told him he had varicocele and that it gets worse overtime that affects his fertility and causes less sperm count, he hasn’t went to the doctors to get it checked out again and he is 20 now, we have unprotected sex but can this affect chances of getting pregnant I’ve never heard of this before
