My period is late for one day and I tested today and it says positive at first and I checked after an hour again to get it confirmed (since am so excited) that showed negative can this happen? Am I pregnant?

Did you return to check the original test or do you mean you took another test later in the day? If you’re still quite early in pregnancy and your HCG levels aren’t high enough yet, the afternoon urine may be too diluted. I would confirm again tomorrow morning to be sure. 😊
