Boyfriend never wants to do things he enjoys

My boyfriend never likes to do things he enjoys doing with me. For instance, he’s been getting into golf and just bought a new set of clubs but has never gone to a course. I figured it’d be nice to take him to a course as a date and let him try his new set out. I found a place and made a reservation and asked him if he wanted to go but he just seemed like I was forcing him. He said he thought I wouldn’t enjoy it. That it’d just be him teaching me how to do it the whole time. I know he had good intentions, and that he didn’t want me to just be bored the whole time, but it’s just really upsetting. I was excited to take him out but he wants to do something else instead. We always do what I want to do. Which don’t get me wrong I love, but I hate that there’s sides to him I don’t get to see. This has happened with a couple things (going out, hanging with his friends, hanging with my friends, etc). He just doesn’t want to do anything if he doesn’t think everyone will enjoy it. Even if I AM THE ONE OFFERING
