Anyone’s hospital requiring you to wear mask DURING labor?

Induction scheduled for Monday. Was just notified must go in tomorrow for mandatory covid test, (like what if I did have it right now are they not going to let me in if I go into labor naturally?) and that myself and anyone with me must wear a mask the whole labor visit.

I mean, yeah, but nobody’s going to tell a woman who’s actively pushing a baby out to stop and put her mask back on.

They require them in triage for me, but never said anything when I took it off. Watch them try and mask me while I'm pushing a baby out. They'd have to strap my ass down. I doubt they will say a damn thing when I rip that shit off my face while in labor. 
But I'm also a bitch like that so....ymmv.

I just delivered last week. I had to wear a mask in the hall and then in the room technically when they were there. But everyone said that we didn't have to when they were in there.  In the end I only wore it when 'new' people came in. And I did NOT have to wear it while pushing or getting the epidural. No one said a word.

Something to keep in mind in regards to testing is that it allows your medical staff to stay as safe as possible. If you are positive no, they aren’t going to not let you come in and deliver, they ARE going to be able to use that information to protect themselves and wear n95s in your room.

At mine my support people have to mask the entire time unless we’re in our room alone. They said they encourage masks but during active labor but if I need to pull it down or feel claustrophobic I can do so.

So my covid test done this morning was positive which is total BS!!! I am not sick. I actually did have covid back in March and know you can continue to test positive for several months. As soon as they said must be tested I knew this was going to happen. They thankfully agreed to keep my induction for Monday as scheduled but now my husband has to get a negative test or he can’t be there and I’d have to be alone. I’m betting his test will be a false positive too just like mine. I’m so scared to do this alone 😭

If they require a mask during labor, ask for oxygen mask. Say you’re having a hard time breathing. This way you get fresh air and don’t have to wear a mask

I went in for a scheduled c-section and masks are required at my hospital. I ended up almost passing out a couple of times in the triage area so they told me to take the mask off and I never had to put it back on the entire time I was in the hospital. I don’t think the hospital workers are really enforcing it for mothers giving birth. If they are, ask for oxygen and then it would be much harder for them to make you wear one. Good luck!!
