Lilith?

Hey everyone, my boyfriend really Iikes the name Lilith, and I do too, especially because Lily was one of my baby names… however my boyfriend is Jewish and the name Lilith has a lot of “dark” connotations in Jewish folklore. She would also have a very Jewish last name. 
My personal take on the folklore is it’s very feminist, and I love the name, just looking for some advice from other mothers , especially any that are active in the Jewish community.

I am Jewish and absolutely no way would I use the name. She "married" Satan and some say she is responsible for stillbirths and SIDS deaths because she resents Adam and Chava (Eve) from being able to birth live bodied babies. Religious Jews wont even say her name. Youre of course entitled to not believe it, but if he is Jewish, he has very legitimate reason to veto this name.

Lilith is a beautiful name, she's not always tied to Satan....I have a tattoo of her on my arm, she also represents the goddess of the moon. It is a powerful  beautiful name.

I know where you’re coming from, I’m not Jewish, but the name of Lilith is often tied to the devil/hell/Adams first wife who was his equal, versus Eve who was made from Adams rib. Biblically speaking of course, I’m NOT an expert in this at all.
Regardless, I LOVE the name Lilith, it’s very pretty and elegant, and the shortening to Lily is so sweet. I’m Christian, and I can imagine having a hard time naming my child Judas or something if that nature, so I can empathize with the Jewish point of view for concern.
I’d say just be respectful of his perspective, and if he’s really against it I wouldn’t push it. It’s a beautiful name but you both need to agree for the fact that this baby is both yours. Even if it had no meaning religiously, you wouldn’t want to name your child something your partner hated. Good luck on this one! 💕

Lilith is actually one of my good friend's daughter's name! It's a beautiful name for a beautiful baby! I grew up with a controversial name and I wouldn't change it for the world!

Reminds me of Frasier the TV show.  Probably wouldn't do it as it has negative connotations everywhere.  I think lily is a better choice.

I think the big question is if she will be growing up within the Jewish community, if so I wouldn't do it. She could be made fun of.

hey! as a lily, I get the “lilith married the devil” joke a lot.. so someone with that actual name might have it worse. just something to consider!
