Apple air tags for tracking kids?

Have you all seen the FB post going around expressing the “greatness” of attaching this device to your child to track them? What are you thoughts? I feel this is actually a little concerning and way too many privacy errors available🥴

Little kids? Hell yes. Before they have cell phones or anything. Child trafficking is real, and can happen to anyone.

Just teach your kids how to openly communicate and that they can openly communicate with you instead of going to these extreme measures? If my mom had done that to me as a teenager I just would’ve left whatever the airtag was on at home or my friends and went about what I was going to do.
I’m also against life360 because our kids are humans who deserve privacy as well, they’ll just find ways to get around it anyways. Then you really won’t know where your kid is whereas if you had a healthy relationship with them and knew how to speak to each other your kid is more likely to just be honest with you and negotiate with you 🤷🏽‍♀️

I think it’s a good idea for young kids, but where would you attach it? On their clothing? Anyone can take a backpack off and leave it somewhere.

I’m not opposed to using technology to track my kid’s movements for safety purposes. But I would prefer to use some kind of kid-friendly smart watch with something like “find my friends” tracking rather than something like apple air tags. 
But like a smart watch would be good for if you get separated at a theme park or mall or if your child rides their bike or walks to school, it can give parents peace of mind. And they have some cool kid-friendly ones now that help establish routines and help kids get into good habits. So it’s not just a “tracking device.”

No because with young children I know where they the whole time anyway. With my older children I have this magical thing called trust and they respect me. Also I don’t really want to track my children’s location all the time.I ain’t a stalker

Something like this makes sense for little kids but not teens. Strict parents raise sneaky teens. They’ll learn to get around it.

Do we not have life360 and find your iPhone already? Why do we need yet another way to track people???

I have life 360 on my sons phone. Hes 13 and walks about a block and a half to the school bus stop. Hes too old for mom to walk him to the bus stop but could still be snatched if someone popped out of the dark and grabbed him. If he texts me like hes supposed to when he gets on the bus I dont check. If he doesnt I do. Thats all ive ever used it for. Hes never given me reason to distrust him so I dont feel the need to constantly check on him. I think these products can be extremely helpful but can also see how some parents would take it too far and constantly track their kids.
