UPDATE (original post below): i got through the first interview!!! my second is mid-september where i'll go in and do a practical mani/pedi and meet the staff. thank you sooooooo so much to everyone for your incredibly kind and encouraging words and i'm touched to have inspired a few people to pursue their dreams 💕

i don't have anyone besides my partner and best friend to tell but i am just so freakin excited and proud of myself!!! some backstory: i've been in beauty school this year after years of putting it off and making excuses as to why i shouldn't just follow my dreams. when i moved to my city almost three years ago i heard about this super famous nail salon and it really inspired me to consider becoming a nail tech as a career rather than a hobby. i held that dream in my heart for years while working a dead end fashion job that left me overworked and underpaid. finally i got the guts to quit that job and go freelance while i started school. my course ends in two weeks, and as we were wrapping up class on friday i showed my teacher my final work for the day. she started clapping and got super excited and said "sweetie, i'm not sure what you're doing for work but you should really apply to _____!" without knowing that was my DREAM!!!

y'all i checked their instagram when i got home after thinking about what she said and they had juuuust posted that they're looking to hire beginner nail techs. guys, the speed with which i sent them my resumé and portfolio..... 😅👀👀 anyways i was so nervous all night wondering if i had a chance. and then yesterday... i got a response!! my interview is on the 17th and i'm so giddy i keep crying with joy/excitement!!!! that's all, thanks for reading!! here's some of my work:
