Home birth mamas?

Question

Any mamas planning a home birth? Is it your first? Where do you live? How'd you come to the decision?

I'm expecting my second kiddo. I birthed my first at home and I'm planning to do to do the same this time. We live in Chicagoland. 😊

Yep! My first was at a birth center (2014) and we lived 5 miles from it. We chose the birth center because we lived in a daylight basement and our landlords were above us and also worried about a home birth. Because of insurance, you have to be out of the birthcenter by 4 hours after birth. My labor was so quick that we got to the center at 8am, I pushed him out at 9:14, and we were home by 12 noon with a 20 min car ride home. Lol. If this next baby comes just as quick or quicker I am staying home! Plus we bought our first house so we have a litttttle more space than last year! I'm so excited to not have to jump in the car hours after! Just roll over in bed!

FTM and planning on having a home birth with a midwife. A little worried about my house not being clean enough for a delivery but I'm considering hiring a cleaning service close to when I'm due. I'm in Oregon and much like the state in general the laws surrounding midwifery are very liberal and the doctors work well with and support them should we need to transfer to a hospital.

I'm planning a home birth! this is my second baby. I had my first in the hospital and hated the whole experience. I couldn't stand that the nurses came in every 20 minutes to check on the baby I didn't sleep the whole 2 days we were there. I just wanted to be home in my bed. So I'm planning a water birth at home. The hospital is 2 minutes away from my house if anything happens to go wrong. Oh and I'm in utah.
