What happens if a newborn gets Covid?

My daughter is 1 month old and my mother tested positive for Covid. I haven’t interacted much with her at all but i’m still scared I might have caught it. What do I do? And do they give something to newborns for Covid if she has it? Or do they not need anything and just quarantine?

Everyone, regardless of age, will react differently to the virus (just like with any other virus).
Is your child symptomatic? There’s no need to jump the gun here. Get baby tested, and based on the result, talk to your doctor.

Some don’t react at all. Some get very sick. If you’re breastfeeding, that will help the receive antibodies and they will most likely be fine.

This is such a tough spot. I have a six week old who had a potential exposure (my sister had been visiting and later found out she was exposed but is thankfully negative) this week and it was scary as heck. 
The difficult thing about this is that all the big studies group “children” together in their data, with children being defined as 0-18. There is very little newborn specific information, especially in regards to delta since it is a newer strain (as opposed to the original/wild type). What we do know is that generally speaking, delta is no more deadly, just more transmissible. We also know that children in general are less likely to get very ill than adults (a few inflammatory news stories have been saying that’s not true with delta and it’s worse for kids but there is very little evidence to support that). But what we don’t know is how our babes, especially ones under two months old, who have not yet developed much of an immune system, would respond. 
It’s very scary and I wish we had more data but we just don’t 😔 
That said, if there were A LOT of cases of newborns becoming super ill, I do think we would be hearing about it. I follow this stuff very closely and have heard NOTHING of the sort. 
We just need to stay hopeful and be steadfast in our choices to keep our lil babes safe. Hoping the best for you and your family.

Go get tested before jumping to conclusions. 
And if the baby has normal vitals then there is nothing to give.

Tere are no meds to give if a baby has gotten sick. You relieve the symproms, but with a baby that young you definetly have to discuss with a doc first.
