Min wage where I am is I believe $7.25/hr still. But, most companies average a starting pay of $8.00-$10.00/hr.  Still not livable wages for most. 
And yes, if wages increase the cost of living does increase too.

I’ve had some jobs where I definitely didn’t make more than $100 a day. It all depends on the profession and your hourly wage and how many hours you are working in one day. Some make $9-10 an hour, others make $20-25 an hour, some people are not hourly but are paid by the job, some are full time others part time. Also depends where you live, you can have the same profession, same hours but make less in one state compared to another state.
