DR “doesn’t believe in” progesterone?

Question

I start my first letrozole cycle today. I asked my doctor if I were to get pregnant would be check my progesterone and put me on it if needed and he said my body would produce the progesterone on its own if pregnancy occurred. But I know low progesterone causes miscarriage and lots of ladies are on it as a prevention. I’m confused? Anyone else’s doctor not check progesterone?

Get a new doctor. They should listen to your concerns! My last clinic didn’t want to put me on progesterone until I was confirmed pregnant, I’ve had 6 unexplained miscarriages!! so I left. My new clinic put me on 3 supps of progesterone a day starting 2 days after ovulation! Im now preg, it’s still early days but at least I feel all my bases are covered and I don’t have to worry about that. If you haven’t had a history of miscarriages I wouldn’t be as concerned as I was though. If you stay with the clinic, Maybe you can request a progesterone check after ovulation x

My GP does not believe in short lutheal phase and progesterone at all so on same boat. Recurrant miscaridge clinic agreed to prescribe one but only if I get pregnant and call them despite my lutheal phase. People here have stated that progesterone creams over the counter helped a bit. B6 never worked to increase my lutheal phase.

Get a new Dr asap this one is not a good fit for you your concerns are valid. I have had 7 miscarriages I am currently on progesterone it may not have worked this time might have I will know Thursday but my dr wasted no time when I asked about it he said alright let's do it  that could absolutely work and help you .

It’s not something they would normally check unless there was a reason to suspect you have low progesterone, like a short luteal phase. Letrozole can help your lining so unless you have a reason to suspect your low, they may not bother. It can have a lot of side effects when you supplement and it’s also difficult to test, fluctuates a lot during the day.. if you were to have a chemical/miscarriage they would probably monitor
