There are always risks to a surgical procedure, but I think the risks are minuscule. 
Now there’s a chance of pregnancy when you have your tubes tied and most of the time, it’s an ectopic pregnancy and your tube has to be fully removed. 
I’m going to have my tubes removed in 6 weeks as long as my doctor gives me all the info he can regarding the procedure and long term effects (including horror stories).

Honestly I wouldn’t do it! It made my periods awful heavy bleeding i had to stay in a ball almost every period for the first 2 days. I ended up 3 years later going back and having a reversal because I couldn’t handle it anymore also caused me to have endo.

You should be more worried about what's going to happen after the surgery (long term). Speaking from experience. I've had awful, debilitating cramps and long periods, which is not normal for me, since I got my tubal 2 years ago. My hormones are off and I have to take BC pills to even my levels out. Honestly, my advice to anyone is just get a long term birth control. And use condoms.

Idk how this is controversial, but like any procedure there are risks and benefits. Tubal ligation is a generally safe procedure with standard surgical risks (bleeding, risk of infection, risk of surrounding organ/nerve damage, blood clots, death).
