Not a parent, but my niece hates me. How do I deal with this?

My niece is 3 years old and she comes over our house about once a month and she used to love playing and doing activities with me. But lately, for the past few months, her favorite phrases to say to me are "I don't like you"". She wasn't like this before as I'm usually the person she likes hanging out with aside from her parents and my mom. When her mom hears her say that, she tells her it's not a nice thing to say, but it doesn't really do much to make her stop. This morning she went to my room and I was happy for a moment because I thought she wanted to play, but then she said "I dont ever want to see you again! I dont like you" and then she closed my door :( 
I'm still pretty young and I have 0 knowledge about dealing with kids so and I know she's still young and she's still learning, but I want to know if there's a more effective way to politely teach her that it's kind of rude to tell that to people. Or should I just let this slide because she's just a kid?

So don’t take it too personal, I know it’s hard but when toddlers say things like that it’s a form of communication and a form of expressing a need not being met. It’s expressing frustration, being misunderstood, or unheard.
My daughter tells me she doesn’t like me too, it’s usually when she isn’t getting her way, so I acknowledge that she’s upset with mommy right now and maybe we should take a break to calm down and get back to it later. I don’t ever tell her that what’s she’s feeling is wrong, it’s how she feels and when she gets older she will find the better way to express it by my example.
Maybe your niece is trying to express something to you? Maybe she does want to play with you but if you’re in your room she might feel you don’t want to since you’re away from her? Try to see when she says that phrase and what else might be happening around her.

She doesn't actually hate you. But when you become a constant in a childs life they are going to get more comfortable and that also means being mean sometimes unfortunately. I would just say everytime she says she doesn't like you or hates you say well I love you very much or I like you very much

It’s probably just a phase. My daughter did the to her Dad for months. Like he would walk in the door after a long day and she would tell him to go back to work. It broke his heart. But it did pass! I’m sure it will for you too. Sorry, even though she’s just a kid I know it still hurts!

She’s 3, you can’t take it personally. My own 3 and 5 year old have told me I’m a “bad mommy” and that this is a “bad house” when they get mad or don’t get their way over something. 
I just tell them that words hurt people and that what they said made me sad. They start to learn eventually.
