Should we swaddle babies everytime ?

My LO is of 3weeks and i keep him swaddled almost all the time, but at times I have seen he really enjoys when i put him mittens and set him handsfree without any swaddling.
I am a FTM so really confused, should I swaddle my baby only when he is sleepy? Of everytime? Or sometimes?

Swaddle at night and nap times. Swaddling all the time can confuse them on when “night” is. One of the first tips I read with my first, when trying to switch their nights and days is to keep out of the swaddle during the day. Hope that helps!

I would let them be free during the day when they are awake so they can start building muscle tone and work on reflexes. Swaddle them for sleep time so that it becomes a routine and a comfort to help sleep better. If they are swaddled all the time they may start to dislike it.

Neither one of my kids liked to be swaddled at all after the first week. We use sleep sacks at night. 🤷🏻‍♀️
