Too soon for a second IVF baby?

I'm going through IVF treatment for a second baby and I'm having the creeping sensation that it might be a bad idea?? Our 18mo is the happiness of our family, we never knew such love could exist. My partner and I shares the secret that although we love each other very much, it is but a drop in the ocean of the love we hold for our child. Our first child is easy going and reserved, he is optimistic and expresses his toddler frustrations subtly - we are very lucky to have had an easy time. Looking at our friends with two children, it seems they are worn out and there is absolutely added strain to their relationship. I read that 3 years is the optimal age between children, as the older has by then formed bonds with other children and other adults. If this IVF treatment sticks, our child will be 2 years and 4 months at the arrival of a sibling. Am I overthinking this, or should we wait?

My two ivf babies are 2 years and 1 week apart.  We wanted a 2-3 year age gap between our kids (my husband is the youngest of 4 and each has a 2 year age gap).  I’m 3 years older than my brother.  So based on our family dynamics growing up we wanted 2-3 years but decided to try another transfer when our daughter was 16 months old in case it didn’t work we would then transfer our last embryo, and if that didn’t work, we’d still be able to do another full round of ivf and hopefully then be closer to the 3 year age gap.  We were blessed and our second transfer worked.  I can say the second pregnancy was much much harder on my body than my first.  My labor was very fast (4 hours in total), and my recovery was much harder as well.  Part of that was because I couldn’t rest as much since we had our 2 year old.  She absolutely adores her brother.  Loves him so much, but has a hard time sharing my attention sometimes.  If I’m holding him, I need to hold her too.  It’s not easy, but it’s also not super hard.  And It hasn’t strained my relationship with my husband any.  I don’t think I would’ve changed the timing of 2 years.  I think I just wish I knew pregnancy and the first few weeks post partum would be tougher.

My daughter turned 2 on January 18th of 2021 and my son was born on February 1st of 2021. I got scared that we too had our second too soon. When we brought him home though everything changed. The minute my daughter held him I knew we made the right choice. I’ve never seen her look at someone with so much love. Even to this day.

My baby is 8 months old and I’m planning IVF for two months time. I don’t have a choice as I’m 40 now. Our family are going through a lot as my Dad had a massive stroke during my pregnancy last year and my mum also needs care. However, time is not on my side and I am an only child and so is my husband. I want my child to have a better life.  I can’t even think about the age gap.
