Family BBQ
Alright we have a drama unfolding. My sister in law decided to do a family bbq for a birthday dinner and she just announced that if we come, we have to pay $20/ person to cover the cost of the meat. There are 3 of us one is 2 and honestly won’t be eating an entire steak forget $20 worth of steak.
On top of that myself and my husband are to bring a side salad and chips and drinks. AND a gift.
$20/plate + supplying the rest of the food seems insane to me.
Now when my family does bbq’s or parties of any kind the host pays for the meat and main side, everyone else can bring a side or salad IF they want. NOT a requirement for attendance. My thinking is if you can’t afford to feed everyone don’t throw a party? So we said we aren’t going then because I’m not paying $60 to her for a meal when I’m also providing food myself. I’d rather go to a restaurant and order what I know I’ll like and well shes pissed. She thinks her request is absolutely fair.
NOTE: if everyone comes there are 11 and they’re cooking brisket (he’s never cooked one before) and in my area I can buy a good sized brisket for around $30
