I teared minimally, both kids over 4 kg and 4,2kg, I listened to my body, and waited till I had to push, so I stayed at 10cm for some time.

I had a water birth didn’t tear I also listened to my midwife and did not push while baby was crowning and stretching me. It was hard that ring if fire is not joke but definitely think that contributed to me not tearing.

I had a second degree tear because my babies head was coming out sideways 🥴 i dont think it would have been that bad if her head wasnt in a bad position. the dr almost had to do an episiotomy to get her out so i was highly motivated, so pushed as hard as i could lol

My OB rubbed olive oil every time I pushed. She did this with both of my kids (5 years apart)! It think it helped a lot! I pushed my kids out super fast lol one was 6.14 and my second was 8.3lbs.

I read to have your partner massage the inside of your vagina near your perineum. I googled and got a lot of info about it. But never ended up doing it and I got a second degree tear but honestly the tear didn’t bother me at all. It was my hemorrhoids from pushing that messed me up postpartum.

I’ve heard raspberry tea helps with labor and also evening primrose oil help with not tearing as much but I haven’t tried it personally going to ask midwives about it my next appointment.. but I’ve been watching a ton of YouTube videos about it .

Hold the push don’t let baby’s head go back in and listen to the drs/nurses I’ve had 3 natural only tearing a little with my first don’t scream when pushing u loose the strength of the push … good luck ❤️ I’m due to give birth with twins and I still fear I’m gonna tear just listen and listen to you’re body.

I don't think it's totally in your control to prevent. With my first we tried perineal massage, I did most of the birth on my hands and knees, and went at my body's pace. I had a tiny 2nd degree tear and got 1 stitch. With my second, we didn't do the perineal massage at all, I birthed her on a side lying position, and she was nearly 2 lbs less than her brother. Had basically the exact same tear. It was small enough both times that I was given the option to not get a stitch, but sit in bed with my legs together for 10 days and my husband didn't believe I could do it(he's probably right)

Mostly, giving birth the right place.
Some are super at guiding and helping you press at the right time to minimize risk of tearing.
Having said that, I teared a tiny bit despite the best team. I know it might not help, but it's unlikely you'll feel it unless it's very severe.

Tearing is also genetic though. I’ve been told by multiple doctors that it’s almost like stretch marks, for sure there are ways to make you tear less but if you’re aiming for no tear at all then I think that’s just luck. I did NOTHING to prepare for birth and didn’t tear with my first, she was overdue and 7lbs 1oz. I think I was just lucky 🤷🏻‍♀️
