My water broke at 22 weeks TW
I just wanted to share my sons story on here since I never got to. I want to give hope to mamas who may be experiencing something similar! With my sons pregnancy everything was rocky from the beginning. At 5 weeks I started gushing blood. I went to the er and they told me I had a 3cm subchorionic hematoma which is a blood clot between the chorion and uterine wall, I was sent home with a “threatened abortion” I followed up with my dr a few days later and the clot grew to 6cm and was now considered massive. My dr couldn’t find a heart beat and told me I had miscarried. He asked if I wanted the pill to get things moving and thankfully i declined because I wanted to give him a chance. I went back to the dr after passing a huge clot which I had thought was the baby all to find out my hcg was still doubling. I went back to the er for an emergency ultrasound and they found baby with a strong heart beat. I was in bed rest for weeks and finally around 19 weeks the hematoma was starting to resolve and it had shrunk back down to 3cm. I was hopeful that everything was fine and I’d go on to have a normal pregnancy. at 21 weeks and 5 days I noticed leaking, I went to the er again and they told me I had just peed myself and sent me home. The next day I noticed more leaking and went back and once again they told me the test was negative for fluid and I had peed myself and sent me home. That night at 22 weeks exactly my water completely ruptured while I was sleeping. We rushed to the hospital and all I could think was that hes too little and he couldn’t survive outside the womb yet. The nurses kept assuring me everything would be okay but I kept thinking. How could it be okay when my water just broke this early? Finally I spoke to a dr after being admitted and she told me I could abort or wait to see what my body wanted to do. I decided to wait, as long as baby was fighting I was gonna fight too. Thankfully we had a pretty uneventful stay at the hospital and 9 weeks later at 31 weeks and 2 days my boy decided it was time! Contractions started at 5am, by 11 am I felt the need to push so I was rushed down to the operating room since he was breech. He was born at 11:19 am healthy as can be. He came out crying and full of color and life. He only needed high flow oxygen for a week and a half and then he was oxygen free. Once he got feedings down he came home with us. He’s now a perfectly healthy 2 year old. A little delayed with speech but so incredibly smart. He’s my miracle baby and he deserves to have his story known❤️
