How to restore a relationship with a cat
We adopted our cat a little over a month ago,
It's my first cat and I've been disciplining her like a dog because that's what I'm used to.
Snapping fingers, saying no sternly, ive bopped her before when biting (not hit), water bottle spray, she's 1 year and 3 months old. I'm also the one that administers her medicine and stuff so I have held her by the back of her neck like the mama cats do in order to do so, and give her baths.
I understand that the relationship isn't the best because of how I've been reacting with her.
I give her lots of love though, and pets don't get me wrong, she's very loved here, but now I'm realizing that shes scared of me, she still will let me love her and pet her and she comes up to me but If I make a sudden movement, she gets scared. And she's starting to act out more.
Idk what to do, I want to keep her in the family and before anyone comes for me, this is my first cat, we love her even though she's a butt,
I want to be a good cat owner but idk how to fix this.
She has tapeworm right now and just got spayed 2 weeks ago, so it's been rough for her lately. I gave her dewormer today and gave her love after and bought her a new toy
I just dont know how to mend this relationship because I feel like I keep gaining her trust and then breaking it when I discipline her or have to hold her down to give her medicine.
Please don't judge me, im trying.
