Are we in the wrong??

So I’m a bridesmaid in my friends upcoming wedding. It’s a little less than 2 months away and it’s kind of a destination wedding (about 1.5 hours from home so not quite “destination” but not local). This morning I got a message from another bridesmaid asking if I had booked my hotel room yet. Long story short the entire bridal party thought there was a block of rooms in reserve, and there aren’t. It’s come close enough to the date and the wedding is in a popular destination so there are no rooms or Airbnb’s anywhere nearby. The closest place to stay is a campground or a hotel 45 minutes away. The bride is rightfully upset that none of us booked our room. 
I am caught between feeling guilty and annoyed because there was no communication in the past year regarding hotels (among other things the bride has failed to update us on) but also I do feel like I should have checked earlier. 
Are we in the wrong for not having figured this out, or is it on the bride to be communicating more clearly to us?

I would say both - the bride should have clearly communicated her hotel situation since she chose the area. But booking a hotel less than 2 months out for a popular destination is always hard no matter what so that’s also on the bridesmaids for not checking in. At this point it doesn’t help to blame and it’s better to focus on a solution.

She really should have told you what the arrangements were, or that there were none. If you want people to travel to a specific destination at a specific time especially for you…you owe them some details about how to make that happen, in my opinion.

I feel like it’s mostly the brides fault being that you aren’t the only one to not have booked a room but you definitely should have checked in with her about the arrangements. The bride should have definitely blocked out some rooms as soon as she booked her venue ESPECIALLY if it’s a popular place.

She’s planning an entire wedding. It’s not hard to forget something. I know I forgot plenty when I was planning my wedding. I think you guys should’ve asked her months ago what the plan was because now it’s considered last minute. My bridesmaids had to ask me if I had specific shoe requirements because I forgot to tell them since I was so focused on everything else. (Shoes might seem minor but if the bride wants a specific style and color, you have to order them and that can take weeks)

Toss up. I mean, it's common sense to book hotel as far out as possible - so that's on you guys. But if she didn't have a block of rooms organized (which usually have an expiry anyway - meaning you must book by XXX date or the rooms get released) then she should have told you there weren't any reservations or that you needed to sort it out yourself. But I still think the onus is primarily on you. Sorry babe

Unless she specifically said she was getting rooms for everyone, you should have definitely made plans for somewhere to stay! My best friend had a destination wedding, and it never crossed my mind that she’d be getting rooms for everyone.

I would say this is the maid of honors job but it’s nobody’s fault since it seems like an honest mistake. It should have been talked about but I would say now move forward and maybe stay with others ? Or share a bnb
