My son gets these bites periodically, and I need to know what they are. Most of the time they just look like fresh mosquito bites, but when I touch them they look like this and feel hard. He never acts like they bother him. What is biting my kid?!

I think some people forget a large amount of the women on this app are mothers. I don’t see anything wrong with a parent posting a picture or question about their child and looking for advice, because chances are they’ll get some good feedback here from other parents that have experienced the same thing. 
Obviously nobody on an app can actually diagnose anything based off a picture, and if it’s something serious they should go to a doctor, but 9/10 times the OP knows this and is just looking for advice WHILE waiting to see a doctor. 
It’s most likely just a mosquito or black fly bite. Unless they start growing, cause pain or draining fluid I wouldn’t worry but it never hurts to double check with your child’s pediatrician.

To everyone besides D, thanks for your input. Doc confirmed it was, as I expected, just a mosquito bite.

Living in FL and getting unavoidable bites all of the time, it looks like a mosquito, fly, or flying ant bite. If there are two holes, it is a spider bite; but that may be hard to see bc littles ones like to scratch.
I worked for a dermatologist and he would say that redness to the area isn’t always a concern, that is extra blood coming to heal the bite or wound. If it has drainage that isn’t clear, a foul smell, or the red area grows in 24 hours (small pen marks to outline the area can help you tell if it is growing) go in to get checked. But keep in mind that hospitals and ERs are huge staphylococcus and MRSA spreaders.

Try some some OTC ointment for bites. If that doesn't work it's probably not a mosquito but to me, that looks like a mosquito bite. I'm super allergic and so when I get bit the area turns red and hard like that as well. 
Eczema cream also helps a lot. Keep baby cool as much as possible too! Heat can make it itchier

Ouch that looks irritated 😥 poor little one! Do you live in a place that’s common to get spiders inside? It kinda looks like a spider bite to me but I’m not an expert. I’m glad it doesn’t hurt them but I wouldn’t want it to get infected and turn into staph or cellulitis (I had that, it sucked). Definitely get it looked at if you can especially if it keeps happening!
