Low lying placenta?

I have a low lying placenta and if it doesn't move up before 34 weeks (I'm currently 22) then I will need a section. So I'm just wondering what are others' experiences with this? Is a section scheduled before or after your due date? I would assume before so I don't go into labour naturally?
