Zodiac signs and dealing with hurt. Any cancers here?

I'm not super into astrology, but the more I read about cancers and their personality traits it pretty much rings true to me. 
Fellow cancers, how do you react and/or deal with being hurt? Either by friends, family or significant others? I just got broken up with yesterday through a text after 2 years.  I sent a pretty rational but heartfelt goodbye in response. Had a good cry and then went into petty mode (well not really because I'm paying for everything) but locked him out of all my accounts and tv subscriptions. 
The most recent thing I read is that cancers are one of the most nurturing, supportive and caring signs, which often means were taken advantage of - but when we're hurt or betrayed we tend to shut those people out and never let them back into our lives. I can definitely say that's what I'll be doing in this situation.

I'm a cancer here and it's true we'll shut people out often if they hurt us real bad , we can also be real petty if we wanted to, but I think we can silent but deadly if that makes sense

The amount of “nurturing you have” is not dictated by what constellation the sun was passing through in the celestial sphere on the day of your birth. You don’t need to handel it differently or find a different solution that other people of other signs
