What do you define “infertility” as?

Do you define it by trying for a certain length of time without success? Or as one or both individuals having medical issues that prevent or make pregnancy much more difficult to achieve?

My husband and I have a son who we’ve since discovered is a miracle, but at the time was an unexpected surprise baby! Now we’re trying for our second and have been trying for 9 months. We are BLESSED as I had to have a check up about 2 months into trying and discovered in that check up that I had a uterine septum that needed to be surgically removed in order to safely carry another pregnancy, in addition to being diagnosed with PCOS which explained why I wasn’t ovulating. Since we found those things out so early on in trying my amazing doctor put me on medication to help me ovulate quickly there after. My husband also had low sperm count at his last sperm evaluation, but we think we’ve figured that out. My question is this - we’ve only been trying 9 months but we’ve dealt with so many issues in those few months of trying. Is this considered secondary infertility? Or just bad luck? I guess it really doesn’t matter, I’m just curious when someone says they’re dealing with infertility - what does that mean to you?
