Anyone’s else’s little have MSPI and having weight issues?
Hoping someone else has advice or been through anything similar.
Back story: When my daughter was a few weeks old she started pooping blood. After a few weeks and a lot of doctor appointments she was diagnose with MSPI (milk soy protein intolerance). I breastfeed so have eliminated all dairy and soy from my diet. She’s been great and happy since. Her GI doctor has prescribed a special non dairy and non soy formula but she HATES it.
At her 4 month appointment she dropped on her growth curve.
At 2 months:
45th percentile in weight
80th percentile for height
At 4 months:
23rd percentile in weight
85th percentile for height
Today at another check 5.5 months:
10th percentile in weight
90th percentile for height
She’s long and skinny. I wouldn’t say skinny even, she has rolls. She doesn’t look unhealthy. But on paper they are worried. They had to cath her today to get some urine. Apparently untreated UTIs can cause growing issues. That came back negative. They are sending it out to make sure her kidneys and liver are functioning as they should. If everything comes back okay, they’ll do blood tests to rule out other infections, diabetes, who knows what else.
I’m so stressed out.
I breastfeed my son for a year and he was always in the 80th or more percentile for weight and height.
I know I’m feeding her enough. I’m terrified something else could be wrong.
For now they have me upping her solid food to 2x a day.
Adding sugar to the formula to see if that makes her like the taste of it better.
Strictly pumping and giving her bottles so we can monitor the amount of ounces she’s getting.
Anyone else been through a similar situation with their babe dropping in their growth curve?
It’s not even like she’s an unhealthy weight. I mean maybe she is. But she’s 13lbs 5oz. She’s happy. Peeing and pooping enough diapers. But on paper there’s something wrong. I’m so worried 😔
