No US until 20 weeks?!?!?

Anyone else not getting an ultrasound until 20 weeks along?  My dr says healthy women with no prior pregnancy complications do not need an US until 20 weeks. We will get to hear the heartbeat at about 12 weeks, but still, seems like a really long wait to see that there really is a baby growing in there.

At my drs office they do an ultrasound at every appointment which I love! It gave me peace of mind with my first and of course it's fun to see all the pictures of your growing baby. :)

I wasn't supposed to until 20 weeks but I could be farther than  what they think so I get one more when ever they decided to call me back ugh!!

Some perform an initial u/s to date the pregnancy, otherwise quite normal to have just the anatomy scan. Can be disconcerting and frustrating but it just means you are healthy!

My first we did a dating (because I didn't have regular periods) and a 20week. 
This time should be different because of complications and mc. 
Norm is 20 week around here. Research seems to suggest it's bad to get them done. You can buy a Doppler and see if you can't find the heartbeat. That's what we did with my first and we heard it at about 8-10 weeks.

My doctors office does one at 8 weeks for dating and I will probably get more done since I'm considered high risk and also have to see a maternal-fetal specialist as well.

My first appt it 12/31 and I was told I would get a US then. Don't know if it's because I'm 36 and pregnant after a 17 year break or what though. Maybe it's just routine?  Find out when I get there!

I've always had an initial US when I go in to date and then one for determining the sex of the baby. This baby they are doing an early ultrasound since I had a chemical pregnancy in September.

Most will do an initial US. Then not another until 20 weeks.  Then all other appointments they will use the Doppler to find the heartbeat. Unless there is complications, you only need 2. You could always ask to have an initial one.

Not sure where you live, but Google baby ultrasounds in your area. There are places that will do the sex reveal after 14 weeks and also do 4D ultrasounds - you can usually do regular ultrasounds at those places!

I've had 2 so far, a dating scan and one when I was in the ER because we couldn't hear baby's heartbeat.. My next US is Anatomy scan and then I'll get another one after that because I'm 18 and tiny, my OB says younger women tend to have smaller babies
