Do I have to take my nipple piercings out?

What happens if I don't take my nipple piercings out. My breasts are swelling so much I'm contemplating taking them out. But if I do how will that affect the milk route for pumping...has anyone else experiences this issue or breastfed with nipple piercings current or previous?

I ended up taking mine out, and I was worried taking them out would like scar over and close ducts. If anything, since I've taken them out, they won't stop leaking hahaha. I'm 24 weeks btw

If you want to keep them in they sell nipple piercings that are considered baby safe basically they have a more secure threading so the balls don't fall off the barbell. I don't have mine done but several of my fiends kept them in while pregnant and breast feeding and never has an issue.

Ok that makes me feel better, I love them and don't want to get rid of them but I'd be willing to take them out to breastfeed or pump

My sis-in-law had her pierced and had no issues breastfeeding, but she took hers out. I had mine pierced a few years ago, but I'm not too worried about it. I've heard of women keeping theirs in and just removing them for breastfeeding then putting them back in.
