rapist punishment in Georgia?

So basically I’m pressing charges against a guy who raped me while I was asleep and super drunk. This happened back in April and I’m just now searching up the punishments for rape in the state of Georgia and apparently he can get either the death penalty, life in prison without parole, and what not. I don’t know how to feel about the death penalty if it does get to that extreme. Hypothetically speaking Ofcourse. Like I kinda feel bad? Is that normal? Like the rest of this guys life depends on me. Am I making any sense? Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Victims guilt is real. It’s okay to feel sorry for him, just remind yourself you can feel sorry for someone and still stick to your boundaries. There are consequences for his actions and he knew that before/during/after doing it. So hold him accountable. You might save another doing it. Be strong

he won't get the death penalty. unfortunately hardly anything even happens to rapists and the death penalty would be for very extreme cases. i get where you're coming from because you have empathy and a good heart, but also he didn't care about what it would do to YOUR life when he raped you. the trauma from that for most people is life shattering. it will most likely haunt you and cause issues for the rest of your life especially if you don't see a therapist to work through it. he permanently altered your life for the sake of his own selfish pleasure with zero regard for you. do not feel bad for him. he deserves MINIMUM life in prison because i'm sorry most rapist don't just stop, they learn from how they got caught before and just try better to not get caught the next time. he doesn't need to be allowed to walk freely with chances to ruin someone else's life. and chances are you're not the first person he's done it to and if he doesn't serve life which hardly ANY rapist do, you won't be last.
