Worried about 3 month old’s physical development
I’m a FTM to an almost 14 week old boy. I’m starting to get worried as he hasn’t yet reached any physical milestones for 3 month olds that I’ve read. For instance, he can only barely hold his head up, and needs to have his head held like a newborn pretty much at all times still. During tummy time he will just lay there, face down or to the side, usually while screaming. He can’t lift it up, and his arms are always spread out to the sides and he won’t try to lift up on his forearms like I see other babies his age doing. If you try to put his arms in that position to help him, he just puts them back out to this sides. I’ve tried tummy time mirror, dangling toys, toys with sound, me being eye level with him, using a boppy…he doesn’t care about any of it and doesn’t even try to lift his head. He also has head lag if we try to do the pull-to-sit exercise…he doesn’t even try to keep his head in line with his body, just lets it fall back. Another thing is that he doesn’t push his feet down if you hold him in a standing position. I’ve seen that listed as a 3-month physical milestone. He will grab toys if they are in his lap while he sits in his bouncer, but if laying in the activity gym or on a playmat with toys, he will look at them and not try to swat them or grab them, he’ll just lay there, and it usually takes less than 5 minutes for him to start crying. He is keeping up with all the social milestones, he smiles and coos and tries to chat with us, but physically it still feels like he’s a newborn that just lays there and does nothing. Should I be worried??
