Too much spit up?

Okay I'm a new mom. And I'm completely alarmed by how much spit up is coming out of my son. I mean he literally makes a puddle under himself and it all comes out in one big gush. Is it normal??? I mean seriously it looks like he peed but i check his diaper and he's fine. He literally drenches his mattress. He's not fussy after hes actually pretty calm so am I just overreacting?? He's 2wks old BTW.

Are you making sure his penis is down when diapering? He could very well be peeing out the top of his diaper or the side if his penis is positioned wrong. 
Do you see the spit up happening? How is it going underneath him?
Anything over a tablespoon amount is something to bring up to his doctor. I do recommend taking a tablespoon of water and spilling it to really gage how much is concerning. Spit can easily look like more than it is.

Are you making sure to burp him every few oz or at least after every feeding?

Speak to your Paed about it. If he isn’t over feeding, then it could be reflux.  That could be linked to cow’s milk protein allergy or a stand-alone issue. Could also be pyloric stenosis (less common-nothing to worry about but worth having him checked over).
