Who else agrees this is for the best?!

Question

My boyfriend works day shifts one week, then night shifts the next etc... every week.
I've been as flexible as possible around this and day shifts are great, well not really because I don't see him. The only issue we have is we have a toddler, also carrying a baby I'm 26 weeks. 
We live in a one bedroom maisonette and when it comes to night shifts it's very difficult for me to be quiet specially with a 16 month old. Our bedroom and living room are next to eachother and we can't use a bedroom door. 
I told my partner to go to his parents house (7 min drive) once he finishes night work. He finishes at 8:30 am and I think it's fair he goes to his dads as they are out the house all day. That way I don't have to pussyfoot around my small home because he's sleeping 6/7 hours. My little girl needs to be free and to play in peace not having to tell her to be quiet. If we had a normal house I think it would be different. He could go upstairs to sleep and that would be fine. He thinks I'm being out of order but can anyone else see where I'm coming from??

Your definitely out of order in my eyes.  How can you tell your husband to go sleep elsewhere after a long night of work. I couldn't imagine telling my husband that.

A noise machine might help.  I wouldn’t send my husband out of his house.  If we talked and agreed that going to his parents would be the best arrangement then ok, but I don’t demand he go sleep away from his own bed because it suits me.  You might have a good idea, but your approach was out of line.

It's his sleep. If he's okay getting a lower quality of sleep in order to sleep in his own house, that's his choice (or maybe he sleeps easily and it really wouldn't be an issue for him). Let the choice be up to him. Just because he decides to sleep at home doesn't mean you have to be super quiet all day. Obviously, don't purposely be loud or obnoxious though either. I don't think it's as big of a deal as you're making it out to be.

How would you feel if he told you that you needed to go stay somewhere other than your own home during the day every other week?  Also why can't you use a bedroom door? That just doesn't make sense to me.

My boyfriend and I have a newborn. He works graveyard shifts and we rent a room. I'm lucky that he sleeps really heavy but sometimes when he has some important thing that has to be done in the day when he normally sleeps I ask him to go to his parents house and sleep there because it's closer to his work and half of the time to get to the nearest town(we live in a secluded area). It's more optimal for him but he really doesn't like being there. I only really suggest it cause in my mind it makes the most sense but he just wants to be with his daughter so he will for the most part just come home to us. But it's a conversation you need to have that you have to realize it's mostly his decision.    You can have input that may sway him but it is his house too and should be his choice where he sleeps.

I wouldnt tell my partner "you must do this." But we would talk about what is going to work best for us all.

I see where you’re coming from but this doesn’t solve the issue plus I wouldn’t just tell mg bf to leave his house and go to his parents house lol
