Absolutely sit them down… most grown men can’t even aim properly 😂 I’ll be encouraging my kiddo to sit until he’s absolutely mastered it because I cannot afford to be cleaning the floors (and walls…. And windows) every 3 hours

I strongly prefer he sit but that involves removing his clothes so he can open his legs wide enough so that he doesn’t pee all over the place. If we’re out and I don’t feel like removing pants and underwear, he sometimes stands. I don’t think he gets it all out, though, and there’s usually a lot of dripping. I would definitely recommend starting with sitting.

The room my son is in at my school they potty train the boys to sit then standing is on the parents. My 4year olds in my preschool room 90% of the boys still sit to pee. All day I’m telling them to “remember point you’re penis down”

We do standing and have since before he turned 2. We mastered pee before poo though and felt it was easier to just do standing always so he can pee anywhere really (he goes outside a lot). 
He doesn’t really make a big mess at all I don’t know. He does pee when he’s sitting and also has to poop and has learned to kinda aim his penis down.

I sit mine down.  Heck he can't even aim while sitting.  He even says ahh it got on my leg a lot.
