Missing White women syndrome

So this post isn't to discredit Gabby Petito case at all but I find it funny that's she was reported missing on 9/11 and the media lost their shit her story was all over the news and social media and people were creating hashtags to bring her home and there was this huge pressure to bring her home and give answers to her family and then answers were found two days ago her body remains was found and as of right now there looking for her boyfriend. I remember #bring back our girls where 276 black school girls were kidnapped in Nigeria and the media lost their mind, everyone put the hashtags up and wanted to bring the girls home however we were satisfied with a couple of girls being found(1,000 days after they were taken away) we forgot about the 112 kidnapped girls that are still missing. These girls have been missing since 2014 (sorry I keep calling them girls these young adults) have been missing since 2014 and where is the demand? where is #bring back our girls? Where is the same pressure and sense of urgency that Gabby Petito got? Why has it died down? Why don’t we care about the young girls being sold into sex work and forced marriages? Where is our amber alert for our amber colored girls? Let’s talk about Daniel Robison the 24 year old geologist that’s been missing for 3 months and how his father is trying to bring in attention so we can find him or let’s talk about the 710 indigenous people missing in Wyoming from 2011- 2020 in which 85%were kids and 57% were female. A report by the Murdered and Missing Indigenous People Task Force and Movement shows that only 30% of indigenous homicide victims make the news compared to the 51% of white homicide victims. Why does Gabby Petito get all America’s energy but not Daniel Robinson or the family of Shemika Cosey who’ve been waiting for their 16 year old daughter to return home since she’s been missing in 2008? Why do the cops treat her case with care but take pictures next to Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman dead bodies? America’s fascination with beautiful white women needs to stop. We need to make sure we save all people of all skin colors and bring them home to their families.
