Should i get Epidural ?

Question

Really scared and get anexity over the big needle. I have a high pain tolerance but this is my first pregnancy ; never been in labor . I don't think I'm gonna get the steroid during labor.  Did you Get epidural ? If so what was your Experience like. ? (Extreme nervousness)

If you have a high pain tolerance, you'll be fine. Breathing is the most important part and concentrating on surrendering to the experience. If you ride the surges, your body will produce lots and lots of endorphins and it's an incredibly empowering experience. Plus epidurals slow down labor and make pushing take forever.
Lots of women get lifelong pain at the site where the epidural gets put in.
If you have loving support to coach you through your labor, you should be fine without it.
If you want to go natural, I suggest taking classes and hiring a doula.

I was more scared of getting the epidural then pushing a baby out of my vagina lol. But it was a total breeze. They numb you with a local anesthetic first so you don't even actually feel anything besides a little pressure. This is coming from a weenie with zero pain tolerance by the way...

You won't see the needle and barely feel it compared to contractions. I've never loved anything more than my epidural.

I am currently in labor and got my epidural hours ago. Barely felt the needle. Nothing to be freaked out about and I'm so much more comfortable now!

Wait until that day and if you can't really handle the pain get it, but I'll recommend go natural no meds

They actually numb the area in the back before they use the "big needle" so you honestly won't feel much more than pressure and pushing on your back once it's inserted. I've gotten an epidural twice and plan to do it again this time. It has helped me not to look at the equipment as it gives me anxiety thinking about how they'll use what. Just try and relax and know that the epidural doesn't hurt. You'll feel like a bee sting when they go to numb it but after that you don't feel much. Good luck!

I had a lot of anxiety about an epidural but I started with a morphine shot and honestly it hurt way more than the epidural and did nothing for the pain. All I felt was a bit of a sting with the freezing shot and then I didn't feel them putting the needle in my back. It was amazing and made the remaining 12 hours of my pregnancy so much better. I will get one every time.

Just remember that every labor is different. Some women will give ya horror stories and others will seem like they had an easier time going natural, my advice would be to take it one step at a time, see how you feel once labor hits, you might be a woman that doesn't feel the need to have an epidural- or you might have the kind of labor that seems it necessary for you, decide when the time comes! :)
