Is it true that smoking can help with asthma?

My friends  are saying they have asthma and smoking helps with their asthma they said they haven’t had an asthma attack once.

I’m no doctor, but I can’t imagine that’s true. Smoking anything is bad for your lungs, so the logic doesn’t add up.

No, it's not true at all. However, cigarettes used to be prescribed to help treat asthma way back in the day before science discovered just how harmful cigarettes actually are for the lungs. (Think like.. before WW2) so I can understand some confusion.
Smoking can and will make asthma attacks worse, and even mess up how asthma meds work, making them less effective. It also makes you cough way more in your sleep, and can cause flare-ups. Second hand smoke is just as harmful. In fact, smoking is also a culprit for people developing asthma as well. So not only does it make it worse, it puts you at risk for developing asthma too.

There is a very small initial period when a person starts smoking weed where their lung function increases just the slightest bit. This is a result pf the deep breathing and sucking action, and it’s very temporary. After that, the lungs steadily decline. Most likely ur friends were bullshitting, but i guess it is possible they experienced that and genuinely think the smoking helps. The study that I am basing this off was done with weed smoking, so I don’t know if it even applies to cigarettes.
