Been induced before??

I’m just curious as to what to expect, what were the steps the hospital took when you ladies were induced?? What meds did they start with? How well did they work? How soon after starting induction was baby born? I’m feeling nervous about this process.

This will be my third time being induced and doing it this way. I go into triage the night before and get a cook catheter. It’s a balloon. I hangout for a bit then go home to have it do it’s thing. The next morning I’m in at 7am. They take out the balloon (which never falls out of me even though I get to a 5) and break my water. I hang for a bit longer before I am put on pitocin. I labor for a bit and then get an epidural and then have the baby. My inductions have always been pretty smooth so I’m hoping for that this time as well. Always induced due to high blood pressure.

With my first baby I went in at 8pm on a Sunday, they started me on cervidill to try and help soften my cervix before starting Pitocin. 6am the next day they started my pitocin & I had my son at 9:29pm! This time around my doctor is going to break my water and start pitocin.

I was induced with my first three years ago and having to be induced again this time in two weeks. 
Honestly, I didn’t like the process and had a lot of trauma from it. But I know it’s best in this case for my baby. One thing I made sure to tell my doctor this time is I am NOT taking cytotec. Cytotec is the only induction drug not approved by the FDA and every reason they didn’t approve it is what me and baby suffered from. I was in labor 26 hours. I didn’t know I was going to be induced either so it was a shock that day. This time since I know I’m able to prepare more and try to get my body more prepared. Go on walk, eat dates, bounce on the ball, do everything natural you can to prepare so that the medical side doesn’t need to use as much. That’s my advice! There are pros to being induced especially this time, I feel prepared. Just research different induction methods and find what approach you feel comfortable with. It’s YOUR decision!!

They started me on pitocin right away, I was 3cm and 60% effaced. I was on it for 10 hours with basically no change. They stopped the pitocin and gave me cytotec (pill by my cervix to soften it) a few hours after stopping pitocin. I didn’t dilate on the cytotec, but I know some people do. Then at 5am the next day, about 6.5 hours after giving me cytotec, they started pitocin again. The second round was for 2 hours. From start to finish, my labor was 25.5 hours.

I wasn’t induced with my first but my membranes were swept and then they broke my water and my son came a few hours later. I’m really hoping that baby will come just a quickly this time. The idea of the meds making the pain more severe is really unsettling.
