When did you give your child a pillow?

Question

My 17 month old is showing interest in a pillow but I’m reading it’s best to wait until 18 months or even 24 months old. He’ll be 18 months old next month. 
When did you introduce your child to their own pillow? What kind did you get them?

I was told 12 months is fine for a pillow, but there’s really no need for one.
My daughter is 11 months old and loves pillows! Throws them around the living room and lays on them to play, but we’ll wait until after her first birthday to try one out for a nap first and see how she does!

Gave them one when they started using their duvents under their head. So both got a thin pillow around 1 year old, and a bigger one when out of the crib.

My daughter got a pillow at 16m because she had a bad cold and I needed to elevate her a bit to help with breathing at night, I just never took it away.

We gave a pillow at 19-20 months when the doctor said it was time. We introduced things slowly. Blanket first and let her get used to that, then the pillow so we could keep an eye on her.

Honestly my kids had pillows from age 8 months and up, have 6 kids and each one wantes a pillow at different time alomg with blankets, i know some parents will be you should wait but they can sit up on own roll over get out of bed even so why not, but that just personally me and my family. My twins are 19 months and have had pillow and blanket since moved into big kid beds at 1 and before that they where swaddled so always had something. My son sleeps wigh on average 3 blanket because he a blanket boy we call him lol

I tried at 18 months but noticed he was snoring when using it, which suggests it was affecting his airways.  So I took it back out.  I reintroduced it at 2 and he’s been fine with it now

My oldest I think around 14m? We moved him to a twin bed at 15m and have him the pillow before that so he could move it from his crib to big bed. It was roughly the same with our second for basically the same reasons. Maybe earlier, I don't exactly remember.

It is not safe to have a pillow in a crib. You can give them one when they move to a toddler bed.
