is 17 and 19 a bad age gap?

Im a 17 year old senior in highschool (F) and my boyfriend is 19 and in his sophomore year at the major university in our area and also my dream school way before I met my boyfriend. I met him over the summer and we really hit it off and because of my bad relationship pasts I could tell that he is different. When I asked my mom about bringing him to homecoming she assumed that I was with him in which I am, and she told me to stop talking to him because he's "too old" and threatened to take him to court. In my state (Delaware) It's not considered a crime if we dont have a sexual relationship. (I'm scarred from a past sexual experience with my ex previous) I dont think we're doing anything wrong because in my mind I didnt plan to go that far with my boyfriend anyways. My state says that casual dating between a 17 year old and a 19 year old is perfectly fine, so is it really that bad of an age gap? Should I break up with my boyfriend just because my mom thinks he's too old? 
Everyone around us (including his parents) think its absolutely ridiculous and so do I. What do I do 🥲

maybe you should put your relationship on the down low until you graduate or you become 18. Had a friend who's was in the same situation as you are . her parents ended up reporting her husband for rape he was in jail for 7 years even though she gave consent it didn't matter he messed with a minor who was still in high school. Her Parents were narcissistic manipulating toxic people. when she turned 18 she moved out an got a lawyer herself got a job paid for that. because her lawyer with all the evidence she had proving that their entire relationship was consensual got him out in two years. Especially where we live he will be off the registration list in 10 years. So you don't want your crazy mother to actually report him for rape .

My first boyfriend was 20 and I was 17. We dated for 9 years then kinda drifted apart, separating amicably. Just saying it's not weird if both of you are on the same page 👍

I mean I think it’s fine. For me a little creepy. At 19 I would not have been interested in a 17 year old. But it’s not something I would freak out about if my friends did it. I’d just be like ok well that’s weird.

I don’t think you can actually get in trouble unless you’re being intimate. Some states, there is an age gap that can get you the other person in trouble if you are being sexually active. So, keep it on the down low until you turn 18 because after that it shouldn’t be a problem.

It's 2 years,  that's perfectly fine. I met my now husband when I was 17 and he was 19. We got intimate when I was ready,  he never tried . Almost 10 years later we are married and have 2 boys. He was in college I was in high-school.  He pushed me to go to college and supported us financially until I finished high-school and 1st yr of college. Your mom is being overprotective,  maybe invite him over to talk to her. Reassure her that there's nothing sexual and that you have know each other for a while. It's literally 2yrs difference. I'm sure he's more mature than any 17 yr old you could date.

It’s not a bad age gap and yes it is ridiculous for your mom to tell you to do so , perhaps try speaking to your mom and try explaining to her that you really like him and stuff and I’m sure she’ll understand. And you’ll be 18 right so I personally think that stuff will be alright but don’t just break up with him because your mom threatened you to do so.
