There is no best gap. No predicting the dynamics in your family so just do what you feel comfortable with. 
Everyone told me a 3 year gap was great but my older child absolutely hated her sister for a solid year. It was rough but they're best friends now.

My daughter is 3 1/2 and will be for an April my son will be two in January and I am expecting number three in December and kind of wish I was expecting number two instead I honestly feel like I took a lot of time from my daughter that could’ve been for her when having my son and now I feel like I’m taking time from my daughter and my son for having my other daughter in December so I guess what I’m trying to say is it all depends on you I wish I would’ve waited until my daughter was at least two instead of getting pregnant with my son a month afterHer first birthday￼
