Names too close for cousins?

Question

Our niece is named Jaycie, we are thinking of naming our son Jason. Our niece already uses the nn Jace- I would rather not use a nn. Jason is a family name and since we have had such a hard time finding a name we like I’m stuck on if it would be weird? If it helps, our niece lives out of state from us- we see her twice a year usually so it’s not like it would be a constant struggle?

I have a cousin who shared a first and middle name with me🤣 mine is Haley Marie and hers is hailey Marie😆 but I say go for it!

I think it’s fine considering they would only be together twice a year. If they were going to together every week then I could see it getting confusing and annoying so I wouldn’t.

Agree ok bc you don’t see them often.  You should use the name you love. I honestly think Jace is different enough.  Jace feels trendy while Jason feels classic.  Also one syllable vs 2 helps too.  Although I can picture grandparents saying the wrong name.  I have a Chase with cousin named Cade and Grandma constantly mixes them up but other than that - it is all good!
