Exhausted all the time!
I'm 37 and expecting my baby girl in late March. After a miscarriage in 3/14 and my first baby girl dying at 7w2d if SIDS 15 years ago, of course I'm over the moon and worried about everything. While trying to figure out what was preventing another pregnancy I found out I have hypothyroidism and have been getting treated for that, which keeps getting worse as I go along. I was anemic my first pregnancy and asked my doctor at the last visit about this. (Also just read this is associated with low birth weight and infant death-she was 6.2lbs) She said my 8 week levels were "beautiful" and she's not worried. I can't get her to test me for anything- I had to go to an endocrinologist to have my thyroid managed well.
I'm so tired and lazy all the time, dark circles under my eyes and weak, and feel like anemia is a good possibility. I was going to just get an iron suppliment and start taking it whether she tests me or not. Do you think this would be harmful? I'm taking a prenatal but has a low iron content and I don't eat much red meat. Trying to work and keep up with things I want to do at home is becoming impossible!
Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated!!
