Constipation help 💩

Becky

Has anyone else struggled with their little ones with constipation?

She's had the problem for going on a year now, and been on lactulose for that long. We see the pediatrician again in December. She's had tummy ultra sounds, blood tests, allergy tests etc all normal.

Loves fruit, so I give plenty of pear, ripe banana, prune juice etc,

This week she screamed and cried to much to go, and it's breaking my heart.

Any more suggestions?

Thanks for all the comments. I saw the pediatrician today, who's changed her into movicol, and senna, and given me some numbing cream for her bottom, cos the poor baby has a pile from the pushing 😢 Will look into diet too, would be great to not have to use too many meds ☹

I also thought of avocado, beans and coconut oil.

Flax seed can sometimes help, don't give too much though as it can be toxic. I've heard people have success with going to the chiropractor and having their child adjusted. Maybe ask the pediatrician about pre and probiotics as well. You can call your pediatrician now and let them know what's going on and they might give suggestions over the phone. So sorry, it must be so hard watching your little one struggle. Hang in there ❤️

When my daughter struggles to poop I give her baked apples and it helps. I just wash the apples, put them in the oven and bake until soft, then peel the skin. Apples are rich in fiber and don't irritate the stomach when baked or cooked. They help us with constipation.

Make sure to grind the flax seed or buy it already ground. You can look up Solid Starts online - they're a team of drs and dieticians and they had how much flax seed kids can have on their website. Hopefully she'll get relief soon!

Thank you, I'll try the flax. She's been on probiotics for months, and no luck 😢 am in the uk, and unfortunately this pediatrician doesn't do phone consults. I'll call the gp again tomorrow and see what more he can suggest.

I heard banana makes babies constipated but otherwise sounds like you are doing everything you can. I give my baby pesos-lax glycerin suppository when he’s really in pain over it. It still makes passing painful but it’s quick.
