Racist?

I've found many names that I love that just happen to be Japanese names. They have gorgeous meanings behind them and are simply beautiful. 
I told my mother and she immediately shut it down because she thinks it's racist to name my child a Japanese name when I'm not Japanese. 
Am I really being racist? 
Keep in mind I truly mean no disrespect and that's why I'm asking this question.
