Am I doing the right thing? Coparent blowing up my phone

My daughters father left the state and doesn’t pay child support. He will go months without checking in and the randomly will ask if she’s good & then disappear again. A few weeks ago I got after him for it and said he needs to be consistent and start providing support and he said his job isn’t good so he can’t 🙄 anyways, when I said be consistent he took that as blow up my phone and harass me. He doesn’t ask about her but instead texts and asks how I’m doing and will send “hi” “hey” over and over again. I asked him to please stop blowing up my phone with texts unrelated to the child and he got pissed and said “I say hi first and then when you respond I was going to ask about the baby but you never answer” I told him no need to say hi and wait but to just go ahead and ask what he wanted to know. Fast forward a week or two he is still bombarding my phone with “hi” and “hey” all day long. I don’t need to answer these texts as they aren’t related to the child, correct?
